About
About me

Created in the image of God with a love to share the experience of creating with others.
Aria Irene is a young artist pursuing a bachelors degree in studio arts, with a passion for connecting with people through her work and capturing feeling and life through detailed and masterfully handled paintings, drawings and photographs. Aria began her art journey in a small, basement led summer art camp at the age of 10, where she fell in love with the process of art and the creativity that could be brought to life through it. Since then she has been seeking opportunities to put that love into practice, and to develop her skills as an artist. More recently that pursuit has taken the form of attending college for a bachelors in studio arts degree. While in college, Aria has explored many different mediums and art practices, though the traditional practice of painting is still a niche she holds dear to her heart. Aria also works as a gallery assist on campus, developing more professional art skills, and has had work displayed in three different juried shows over her time at college. Aria sees art as both a gift from God, and a process by which we have been made in his image, and desires to share that process with others.
What I do
Here’s a little bit about what I do in each medium and the technique and vision behind my art.
I find oil painting a medium that I can take almost anywhere and do almost anything with. There is not one particular narrative to my work in this medium. I have enjoyed working on landscapes, still life’s, and portraits, and though these are all very different a theme of attention to detail runs through all of it.
My watercolor work primarily explores nature on a small scale, making compositions out of the easy to miss details in the world around us. The pieces that I create often use soft colors, precise details, and an intentionally realistic quality.
My portrait work is primarily in pastel, graphite or pencil, and aims to capture not only a likeness, but some of the personality behind the individual. Drawing a personality into a piece of art is one of my favorite things, and I love the challenge presented by accurately trying to shade and shape each little variation in surface that makes up an individuals unique face.
My photography seeks to take a narrative and explore it through the story telling of images. More than just the content of an image is its composition, and its feeling, and both of these I like to explore in my photography work.
